Tourists as well as many Winnipegers prefer to travel to the most popular destinations; when it comes to small resorts, the same rule applies. Therefore, the small town of Kenora, which is in the province of Ontario, is very popular especially in summer. Yes, Kenora is a very beautiful place, resort, and it attracts lots of people annually. However, there are more destinations worth visiting, which I would like to cover in this chapter.
It is a very charming, quiet place with friendly citizens and lovely nature. It takes just 5 minutes to walk to the lake. The beauty of the place makes you feel the thin connection with the nature, makes you feel the spirit of the country.
The way there is approximately 3 hours of drive. For that purpose you will need to rent a car, because this is the best possible option since you plan your trip, you do not depend on the schedule too much and you are not limited by your route only. Renting a car in Canada is simple, just Google “rent a car in Winnipeg” and you see so many options; the rest is up to you.

Moving on to the second stop of the journey, we get to Boissevain, the town located in the south-west of Manitoba.
If you decide to visit Boissevain, find time to go to the Turtle Mountain Provincial Park, which is 40 minute drive away from the town to the south-west. That is a historical and very famous park having two major exits, one in Canada, another one in the United States.
Walk on the streets any time of the day, during the night as well. You can find some breath-taking views and take lots of pictures, you can visit local shops and go to the local bar, where you are able to drink anything, play the pool, watch TV, and talk, talk and talk. When you are in the central part of it, you can see the old buildings by the railroad. And the most logical question you might ask: is there a railroad station? And the answer would be “Yes”, but… it used to be... nowadays the railroad is used to carry different stuff but not as the passenger line. But you can see pictures on the wall of those building portraying the history, everything reminding of those times.
I would say that even a small town is able to attract people with its unique history and terrific charm. Boissevain is a proof to those words. Find time to visit it and to enjoy the town.

The first stop
of the journey is Wasagaming, a small town, north-west of Manitoba, where you
find lots of resorts around the Clear
Lake. The resort I would like to speak about is Buffalo Resort.

Obviously, the
best season to be there is summer, or, maybe, late spring and early fall. If
you travel with children or on your own, it does not make any difference; the
trip is promising to be enjoyable and highly remarkable.

When you get to the place, do not forget
about national parks; try to visit as many places as possible. National parks
are magnificent, glorious and just amazing. By the way, your trip to the lake
will give you an opportunity to drive on the Trans-Canada Highway, at least that part of the way which shares
that famous “road”.

Basically you can get there from the
Clear Lake if you just go down to Brandon
and keep moving to the south. Or, definitely, there is a way from Winnipeg to Boissevain, which will take
you approximately 3 hours of drive. And you also have a chance to drive on a
small part of the Trans-Canada Highway, but different part of this “road”.

But let’s get back to Boissevain. Here
is the link to explore it. The
town was named after the banker, who helped finance the Canadian Pacific
Railway. You can always find something which interests you online. But here is
the reason I chose it. When I got there I felt some kind of a history being
hidden under the cover of “here and now”. If you walk on the streets of
Boissevain, you feel the spirit of the history, see those buildings and even
make assumptions about the previous look of the town.

If you want to stay in the town, you can
find a lovely motel with the speaking name. I would recommend one of those two:
either Canadian Wilderness Inn or Red Coat Inn.

unexplored, small destinations, which are required during a long ride. The
following chapters of the journey will get us directly to the largest and one
of the most important cities of Canada (and in North America), Toronto, and the
journey is going to be complemented by the Niagara-Falls.
